Genre what? Who cares? Good Music = Good Music
Categories: Life

The other day some girl sent me a message on myspace I thought I should bring up. She writes: “Your music sounds really good but I don’t listen to uptempo Hip Hop”. That is probably the stupidest shit I’ve ever read. If it sounds good to you then it sounds good to you… Who cares what genre it’s classified as anymore? I’m also tired of these rappers who try to specify what’s hip hop, real hip hop, and what isn’t. I grew up listening to the same shit they did. You know.. during the good days of hiphop around the mid-90′s. But then again I also listen to everything.. from House, Trance, Country… Barbershop quartet…as long as it’s good.

How can you be a true musician if you don’t vary your tastes? That doesn’t mean I like everything but I would never want my boundaries closed in by what other people think the focus should be.

Good music = Good music. It couldn’t be simpler than that. Fuck a Genre.

hahaha, so dumb. I can dig that people and society feel they need to label things. I believe in the deconstructionist view, once you label anything, it loses all of its original intention.
